Durham DA recall election spoiled by "hijacked" local county GOP

Some seem to feel that we are somehow harming the Durham Republican party with this website.  No one could harm the Durham County GOP more than the current leadership has.  Anyone who cares about the Durham Republican Party should ask, no beg Mr. Monks to do his first unselfish and un-self-serving act and resign.

Just imagine with us for a moment. Imagine if the Durham county GOP had behaved in a responsible manner and had supported the highly respected Lewis Cheek in the DA recall race instead of the selfish blunder of spoiling the election just to get some publicity, and Lewis had won. The party would have supported an independent candidate against a democrat and Lewis would have won. Now, instead of the contempt of many democrats and independents both conservative and liberal and instead of the statewide if not nationwide disgrace, the local county GOP would be seen in a very favorable light by many outside of the party. Just imagine....

You do the math!
We are very ashamed of the current "official" Durham GOP for thwarting the will of the voters of Durham.  Please be aware that these people by no means represent the majority of Republicans in Durham.  We are  VERY ASHAMED of them and the disgrace they have brought to the Republican Party!!! SHAME ON YOU Durham County GOP!!!
Click here for some local history that led to this shame and disgrace. The rest of the story. Hopefully this will prove to you why you should not blame more than a handful of Durham Republicans for selfishly spoiling the 2006 Durham NC DA recall election.

Some have inquired how we could fail to support a Republican in an election and not be disloyal; well, there was no Republican candidate on the ballot in the Durham DA race.

Click here for Letters to the editor News and Observer 10/29/2006 regarding voting for Lewis Cheek for DA. The  letter writer makes several good points about the wannabe "write in", "spoiler" candidate for DA and the damage she feels he is doing to the Republican party.
